Over the years, we all hve used skin care of one kind or another.. some worked and some hrm... all a big con job lah. I think in my younger days, only those who are more affluent use proper skin care products, whereas for the rest of the folks, we had to rely alot on good genes to have decent skin!!!! For me, I started using skincare in my late 20s. ;D ;D ;D Before that, I probably only used sabun lux to do the job. Dont even remeber buying any creme for the face!!!! I first started using Dr Payot range of products, I think the French brand is no longer availble at department stores. I go thru the full regime at home, clense, tone, mosturise, and the weekly facial mask. I remember the sales assistant very well, her name was Helen. She is really helpful and take good care of me, and I go to her for my free massage once a month. Helen is petite and is very pretty, with porcelain skin and well lined eyes. Well, it turned out that a lot of that was the make-up, becuz I saw her one day without her make-up on, and it was not as pretty a sight.... Well, back to my skincare..... I bought everything, from eye mask to mosturising mask and deep clensing mask. Whatver Helen recommended, I bought. ;D ;D I am not a discerning customer, but based on feedbacks from my sisters and friends, this range of skin care worked well for me lah!!!! While skincare products generally tend to produce visible results over a longer period, I find the Dr Payot Refreshing Mask to be very excellent. This mask gives a quick peps-me-up. I remember that I really looked so refreshing and radiant after applying the mask for the short 20 minutes or so. ;D ;D So its a mask u want to use if u are dead tired and u want to look good for a party. Highly recommened!!!! After a while, Helen disappeard and I lost contact with her. Since then, I hve not really had a serious skin care regime nor do I hv the pleasure of such professional service.

I am lucky , I have good genes for clear and good skin. But all skin needs care to maintain its beauty. I believe in cleansing. I always use a good cleanse and I change the brand every two three months. I realise that my skin perks up with new products. Brands that I use and believe that is good : Amway, Estee Lauder and Nu skin . At present I am using Elken Ultimate Perfect skin care set. It is a present from my son Charles. I must say this brand works for me as well. I apply different kinds of mask weekly. I like mud masks. It is good for my dry skin . I go for facial once a month- Vitamin C treatment for whitening and firming treatment. I think professional help is needed for aging skin. Some how the beautician can give your skin the glow you need . Still ,the trick to good looks is make-up on good skin!! Like Jwong say " without her make-up on, and it was not as pretty a sight..." Same apply to us all!!! Hahaha!!!

Me? I am not so lucky lo.Born with freckles and when I was young they do look cute with my fair skin n rosy cheeks cos I was staying in Cameron Highlands then. Now I stay in the lowlands and with age the freckles seems to have grown bigger n bigger and hv become pigmentation n sunspots. Well I am not a very disciplined person when it comes to skincare cos I change my mind about things as fast as I change my clothes..... ....Have changed so many brands from Estee,Chanel,YSL,Oil of Ulan,Amway,Nutrimetics,Lancome,Shisheido,SKII, Kose...u name it I've tried it.....so once in a way when I get desperate I'll look at my friends' lovely complexion and ask them what they use. Someone recommeded me some cream to lighten my freckles.Have just used it for a month and find that the face has gone lighter but the freckles are still there.....sigh!! I suppose I'll always have a 'Moon face'. Long ago when someone refers your face to the moon it means u are as beautiful as the moon but now we know better. ;D Used to swim and love the sun alot but now I steer clear of the sun cos i my pigments will go 'hey wire' again . Anyway I don't feel comfortable in the sun cos it is burning hot. How I wish I can stay in the Highlands again.!

Freckles? ? I had freckles... and the situation deteoriated severely some years ago, becuz I went into the sun alot WIHOUT SUNBLOCK!!! I was recommended to use the Obagi whitening products, the Obagi Nu-derm system. The systems works on cell regeneration where old skin is replaced by new skin. The main ingredient is Retin-A 0.1% for the face. Retin-A was a cream that can be easily bought at pharmacies to treat acne. I was told that, more in-depth research into the use of retin-A for skin renewal started becuz it was observed that ppl who had prolonged use of retin-A were showing young and radiant skin. Apparently, use of Retin-A stimulates the skin to produce more collagen!!!! ;D ;D ;D During the initial period of use, I cld not use any mosturiser, and the retin-A combo was applied 2x a day. This together with the Obagi clenser and toner help to remove dead skin. Old skin literally comes off my face like sheets of paper!!! During the peeling stage, the face was not a pleasant sight either. The side effect is that our skin becomes very sensitive to the sun, and I hve to use a sunblock at all times. It was at tht time that I started using umbrella..... And of course, it really worked!!! I was on it for about 2 years. My freckles were largely gone, and I had younger looking skin. It is not cheap, but it works.... ;D ;D ;D I may go back to it again .... Go to this link if u want to know more..... www.obagi.com/article/forpatients/obaginu-dermsystem/obaginu-dermsystem.html

Hve heard abt Obagi products b4 many years ago, some bad comments also, they used an ingredient called hydroquinone in their products, this ingredient will eventually thin the skin and after a while, u will have rosy cheeks and baby- fine-skin and fair but u need to stay out from the sun cos otherwise u will get burn and scar becos of the thinning of yr skin. I think Retin-A has got the same effect too. Honestly, i think freckles are cute 2, my sister has got it, she has tried many, many ways such as laser treatment to get rid of it but it's still there. I told her not to waste time it will always be there, it's just lighten abit only after the treatment, there's nothing u can do abt it as long as u take care of yr diet, well-being and with some proper skincare procedures. I'm worst, i've got oily skin, open pores and slightly pigmentation, of course, i go for facial every month, signing up for the package,(which comes with ultrasound, EDT,whitening, oxygen treatment and so forth) the pores will not closed up,minimise sikit saja BUT the texture of skin improve, not dull-looking anymore even it is not the best skin in town! At home, be diligent, cleanse, tone, mosturise and as for me (the age difference here) special care, wrinkle-cream,liposome, nourishment cream and all masks from whitening, tightening, Vit C and hydration, etc. Start young now and no regrets later, believe me!

yeah, I stopped using after 2 years becuz I felt tt the retin-A was a bit harsh on the skin. I think the need for sunblock is not due to thinning of skin but rather tt the skin becomes sensitive to the sun... So, use of sunblock is inevitable.
I really miss the glow that I had when on it, so will still consider going back to it ocassionally just for a quick fix... ;D ;D ;D
The younger us start, the better ur skin will turn out. However tired u may be, never go to bed without removing ur make-up and the basic clense-tone-mosturiser.
I am wondering if anyone cld share about those over the counter skin care products from Loreal or Ulay??

Hehe Michelle I was staying in Tanah Rata...those days only got one row of shophouses... ;D I think facial is not too good for pimples le. If u go for facial your beautician should leave the massage out even though that is the most relaxing part of going to a facial....cos massaging aggravates and stimulates the oil glands too much and in turn more pimples will come out and all the pricking and pinching is not good. Can get scars but if you are young at least the cell renewal is faster ;D...but still it is best not to pinch. I think skincare for your age is more important and moreover you are still young.Hormones not balanced yet.Be patient as you grow older they will stabilise....just like my 2 boys. They didn't use anything except Sebamed to clean the face and one morning the face just cleared. Now only occassional pimples.Maybe they are boys...they weren't too concious and didn't put too much stuff onto their faces. ;D..Like our family doctor who has porcelain white skin...he told me he doesn't even use soap for his face his entire life( too extreme lo)..just use clean water to wash

Aunty stayed in Tanah Rata last time. My mother stayed in Tringkap. My cousin also said that clean water is the best cure for pimples because her face is very very white and smooth ;D ;D. Actually the massage is really the best part of the facial ;D... Until the come to the prickling and pinching part. It's very very painful Once, i opened my eyes and look at the cloth beside me, it was full of blood stains... But the masks are very relaxing and cooling ;D. Especially the ending one, it's [glow=red,2,300]Pistachio Flavour [/glow]

Lady bird why don't you try clinique? cos i use to have some pimples but then discovered the clinique is quite suitable for me..
Ya, i heard that teens cannot really use skII cos their products are too harsh for young skins.
