The Star Petaling Jaya Menara Star 15 Jalan 16/11 46350 Petaling Jaya Selangor Darul Ehsan. Date: 1st December 2005. Attn: The Star Publications Re: Daniel Lee’s Pirated Album As we Malaysians know, piracy has been a big problem for many years in the music and movie industry. Today, I am going to talk about the music part. We have many local singers in Malaysia from all races and we support them. One problem is that, why do we support piracy as well? Supporting piracy is not a good way, as local artistes will get less income. Our very own Malaysian Idol Season 2 winner, Daniel Lee, has just released his self-debut album a week ago. As a fan and a member of Daniel’s Fan Club (DFC), I am pretty glad that he has sold 8000 copies in 4 days since the release of his album. Since then, we have seen many pirated copies of his album in the night market. We felt really sad as people said that they buy it just for listening and for fun. Why is that? Even though they might not like the singer and only the songs, they can buy the original copy since he is our local singer. Daniel Lee is a hardworking man and yet, all his hard work is wasted when people start buying his pirated album copy. I know that many of us have bought pirated CDs but what does the quality means to you? Pirated things are not in the best condition yet especially movie DVDs. For music CDs, you probably could hear some unwanted background sounds. You wouldn’t want that, don’t you? SO, WAKE UP, MALAYSIANS! Daniel Lee’s self-debut album only cost RM30 to RM35 and it is not that expensive if you compare it to international singers like Jay Chou, whose album is RM40 to RM45. Don’t say that Daniel’s songs aren’t worth listening. Give it a try. Get his album! Support our Malaysian singer! In conclusion, I would like to emphasize more that we should stop supporting piracy! As much as we want our Malaysian singers to go abroad, they should first make it big here instead of other countries. They are the one who will make us proud in the eye of the world when they are famous. Regards, Elaine Tan Member of DFC. www.daniel-lee.net - Ah.. Got somereference from thenatstory as well. ^^ - I wonder if it's gd enough to send in...

This is a very rare opportunity, as most of us know that Daniel is very grateful for the support his family and fans gave him. From a normal guy till he became the Malaysian Idol, it requires a lot of hard work and persistence. Daniel is also a human being, he often wants to give up due to the hectic schedule and not enough sleep. But Daniel never gave up because he knows the full support given by his fans, it pushed him to work harder, and thus made him the current Daniel Lee, and all DFC members are very proud of him! Daniel's first album was released on 22 November 2005, his fans are very pleased that Daniel realized his dream, and gave him a chance to meet his idol, Jay Chou and also presented his own album to Jay. This proved that Daniel is such a kind and humble person, it also became a strength behind supporting Daniel to work harder! But cases of piracy in Malaysia is blooming non-stop, worsen day by day. You could even buy pirated version of Daniel's album on the day he release it! When all DFC members heard the news, we were so filled with anger, frustration and disappointment! All pinkies are trying to stop the act of piracy, but relying on just the few of us, we can't do much! We need co-operation from the medias and related bodies, and even assistance by the police, fight shoulder by shoulder, overcome the act of piracy. I believe all Daniel's album sponsors, Sony BMG company, and the crews and workers who helped in the production of Daniel's album, also wouldn't want this evil deed to occur. Piracy means denying the hard workmanship of all production crews, it affects a valuable and meaningful album to become a 'valueless' one! I hope through the medias, those Malaysians who worked in producing pirated goods will reconsider their own action. Not only piracy is illegal, it is also immoral. I hope that everyone does not just look into the short-term fun, but try imagining the destruction that piracy bring to the country. If piracy is not immediately overcomed, we might not be able to hear our favorite artiste's songs, and there might not be any chances of development for those artistes in our country! Cetak Rompakan, Memusnahkan Warisan
Memang macam inilah fikiran rakyat Malaysia.
Janganlah melanggar undang-undang.
Sekian, terima kasih.
