Quoted from another thread, Asianatics forum on Daniel
Was reading the forum in Asianfanatics on Daniel and come across a quote "I've downloaded the first single and now I'm downloading his new debut album"
I like to share an article or news from The SundayStar under @the_lioncity dated 15th January 2006.
Title: Two men charged with illegal music uploads
TWO MEN arrested last year for allegedly distributing illegal digital music files on the Internet were charged in court yester - the first time home users here are facing the music for not-for-profit copyright offences.
Mohd Faizal Osman, 21 year-old and jobless, and Mohamad Azry Zainol, a 22 year-old factory operator, had allegedly put up hundreds of songs, since 2002, on a popular local internet chat relay channel for other users to download.
They included songs by popular international, Malaysian and Indonesian artists, plus one song by a Singapore band.
The duo were arrested by the police's Intellectual Property Rights Branch in separate predawn raids last August, following a tip-off by the Recording Industry Association of Singapore (Rias), which represents music companies like Song and Warner Music here.
A 16-year-old Secondary 4 student was also arrested, but was let off with a stern warning by the police on account of his youth and good school record.
Slim, bespectacled Mohd Faizal was charged with three counts of illegally distributing almost 300 songs from Sony, EMI and Warner.
Stout, shaven-headed Mohamad Azry was slapped with four counts of illegally distributing almost 650 songs from Sony, EMI, Warner and Universal Music.
The two men, who were not represented, had earlier indicated they would plead guilty when the charges were read out to them. They are not believed to know each other and did not acknowledge each other during the proceedings. - The Straits Times/ Asia News Network
