just wondering... what kind of wok are you using at home for cooking? i've been using the teflon coated wok all these while, and now i am getting tired of them... Because the surface started to peels again... dunno how many wok i have changed. No matter how careful i am with the handling of the 'wok', it still ends up the same way, just the matter of of 'how soon'... so, do you think going back to the old typed black wok is better or those stainless steel wok ?

I bought one for my sister and mother-in-law and they enjoy using it.

I can imagine the following scenes: Scene 1: ----------- Elegant Quiny in her elegant kitchen. Attempt to cook chinese style "mixed fried brocolli, carrot and cauliflower".... Scene 2: ----------- Turn on fire...place pan on fire. Pour in oil from the most elegant crystal container. Scene 3: ----------- Quiny ready wif a 'wok chan' on one hand and another hand (wif glove) holding on to the handle of pan. Oil is heated, getting smokier, and smokier and smokier. Quiny cannot tahan the smoke now...use the ladle to zak zak zak the smoke away like chasing mosquito. Scene 4: ----------- Why still so smokey one? Aiyo, forget it, turn off fire. wash the wok. Bring on a pot of water. Scene 5: ----------- Telling Vincent and Chrystelle "Darlings, no chinese tonite, we do it the French way, hv boiled mixed veg, wif a toss of French dressing" ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Melody Wendy..Hehe….You are absolutely right. As we all know, when we cook Chinese food, we have to heat up the wok, then pour in oil…When the oil is hot and we put in vege..Here comes the SMOKE!!!! Everytime, my kids walked into the kitchen & questioned me: Mummy, what are you doing? ;D ;D Chef…can teach me to cook tasty Chinese food without smoke ah….Don't tell me to steam chicken because I don't know how to cut into pieces and I hate oily feeling on my hands. Chilicandy, yes, I know western meal has a lot of meat. Try this for your kids. 1. Fry Fish fillet with butter, just add in salt and pepper (If your kids like herbs, you may add in too) 2. Boil French bean 3. After frying the fish fillet, use the same pan to fry the French bean. Hmmm….your kids will love this. Simple and nice. ;D ;D When I was at your stage, I stayed at home looked after my kids and cooked everyday. Chef….Any comments ah? ? Wanna shoot me again ah??? ;D ;D

wahhh sounds cool! thanks for the nice recipe!
but the problem is, my two dotters might eat it, not my son... he is slow to adapt to changes. Only now we are trying him to take in more veges and meats, as he only eats porridge, chicken nuggets and mee goreng, black hokkein mee... thats all.
just yesterday he starts eating fried rice... haihh, sure makes life difficult for me, as he seems to be a 'picky' eater.....

This Elegant Quiny always asks for the impossibles la...want chinese cooking, no smoke but tasty, no steaming of chicken becos dunno how to cut, hands cannot get oily....like that ar, eat cold taufu everyday la ;D ;D ;D Madame, nowadays ar, you buy chicken, they siap potong for you la, any style you want summore ;D ;D ;D, sell chicken in market also very competitive now you know. for your oily hands, supermarket ada jual glove ma....if not buy those thin plastic gloves that comes 100pcs in a box la...disposable summore. You bring any excuses pun I pasti ada solution for you la, try harder hor ;D ;D ;D ;D When was the last time you went marketing la. ;D ;D ;D. BTW, steaming chicken is so versatile la. You can do it so many ways . Chilicandy, what abt meatballs for your son? Minced pork or minced chicken, add in some finely chopped carrots and spinach in the meatballs. Can make soup or porridge wif it (BTW, I love porridge too!). If he doesn't like veg, bury the veg wif the meat when you do the meatball la, tipu him sikit la, make it look like solid meat from outside but inside rojak one. . Shhh...dun pecah lobang when you see my Beverly ar.
