Jintanmanis, doubleboil is more "yon" but I always boil la...for about 3 hours. Buy the crunchy shuet yee otherwise the soft one will make the soup slimy. Happy trying...

Jintanmanis, first of all. Thank you so much for your hard work taking care of our beloved Idol, Daniel. Love ya . Next time come out & join Pinkies aunties 'Yum Cha'. Okay? Here the recipe for coughing & sore throat:1)Try bird's nest. I've tried this many times with my kids when they are not feeling well and it works just fine especially for coughing & sore throat…Magic for us. Bird's nest not only promotes metabolism in skin cells for a radiant complexion, it also strengthens the lungs and body's defense system. It improves body immunity, fortifies the lungs and digestive organs. (Have to ask IH for this ) 2) Take organic honey. Place it on the tongue and let it trickle down your throat. DO NOT drink water after taking the honey. This also helps soothe the throat. 3) Mix lime juice and honey. Swallow tiny amounts slowly 2-3 times a day. 3) Boil pear with raw sugar cane. 4) In France, a French taught me this. Boil sage leaves in water and vinegar. Use it to gargle. This is for sore throat. (wonder if Daniel dare to try this ) Last but not least, remind him to take Vitamin C every morning. Thank you. Hehhehe… ;D ;D Regards, Quiny

if got heaty body, drink the usual popular old cucumber soup lor...
bring water to boil add in chicken ( cut into pieces or pork for those non halal lovers) when the water starts boiling again, add in the old cucumber, sliced big onions, red dates ..
let it small heats for 1-2 hours... add salt to taste .

Jintanmanis, try this lotus root soup with a different twist : Lotus root in whole (keep the ends intact) Kacang hijau Red dates Pork ribs or chicken Soak kacang hijau. slice one end off the lotus, stuff the soaked kacang hijau into the lotus root. Cover with the sliced end and hold it with a toothpick. Boil water and place the lotus roots to boil together with red dates for an hour or so. Add in pork ribs or chicken and continue boiling. When soup is boiled (kau foh), remove the lotus roots(still in whole) and slice them. No worry abt kacang hijau, they will be soft and stuck inside the root by now. If you fancy, you may just take the soup and the sliced lotus roots can be fried with leeks with seasoning. Save you from having to prepare another separate dish. It's yummy. This is also cooling as kacang hijau has cooling effect. This is a special recipe which I tasted in Guangzhou. It's famous in the households there.
