Right.......Its no fun if we keep on using proper english... It doesnt express our mood sometimes....[like idolhunter said] I wont be able to type proper english all the time too...=P But in essays..to be honest...when i double-checked my work...I found lots of short-cuts... So i had to erase them again....blehh....

When I first join this forum ( first time since the beginning of surfing www and thanks to our Idol) I got a bit of a "cultural shock" reading the messages in "rojak" spellings. Well it looks like some coded messages in 007 movies Up till now I still can't understand most of it.So I have to skip some of the messages lah. ;D What suprised me most , as I read in newspaper report not long ago, that there were people who use "rojak " spellings in examination.!!!!!!!!! How to score good grade??? Well, my opinion, unless you are already good in your english,it is better to forum in proper english, as the saying goes " learn to walk first before you run or "fei"". If you want to set the mood , at least the spelling should be correct.

For the posts that are, like "ThIs oNe"...like idolhunter, I cannot stand it so I just skip and read the next post.
I use my knowledge of English to it's best when I write (not that it's really good), but when I want to express myself, I use the "lahs" and "mahs". Without it the sentence feels incomplete. Of course when I write essays I don't use all those... ;D
But when the whole sentence is TOTALLY short forms of words, sometimes I can't stand it and just skip the post.

it's a bit hard to type out full cause somtimes in my essay short forms also appear and my teacher do circle all. for the 'lah' and 'mah' is our slang so is hard to change. but i think it's good to have lah n mah cause it's our expression, cause when i talk i also have lah n mah so hard to change. p/s : very hard to type in full. i need to stop n think and sometime i did type short forms then delete again and type full... then stop and check again. phew... really hard.

actually its up to you whether you want to change or not all i'm saying its better to type in full as its good practice... whether you use "lah"s and "mah"s or not is up to you... I'm just suggesting it because sooner or later daniel will go international and well all these shortcuts are not necessarily understood by everyone.

i think the 'kind' of english you use or the 'seriousness' of your tone really depends on what kind of forums you're at, certainly you'll write differently at an education/ college discussion forum and at a fan club.... since this is a fan club, i guess a little lah, mah or wat is fine, if we write here the same way as we would at more 'serious' forums(eg, education discussion forums), we'll surely kill the spirit here....

yeah i noticed too jay chou's m'sian forum is very strict on this issue...
bluesapphire actually i find what you say not really true... speaking of fan clubs i'm a part of many forum cum fanclubs where many fangirls spaz about their idols and still we are very capable of spazzing or so to say... but yeah in this forum the use of "mah"s, "lah"s and so on does bring the sense of malaysian-ness into it... but i don't think any spirit will be killed... proper english doesn't mean serious english... I do have fun spazzing in forums of my other idols with proper english... its just a matter of habbit... anyway this is up to one's ownself's preference... for me i'll try my best to type in full because i have already made it a habbit when posting in forums to type in full...i only use shorthands when in chat... and sms.

yeah jay chou's forum is strict on the usage of proper english if we were to use proper english.. it will kill the mood just like idolhunter said . all the ''rojak'' language like lah, alamak, haiyo, etc makes the forum more lively it helps us to express ourselves in a way =)
