DANIEL MADE NITA LOST (what kinda topic is this? Crap!!)
Daniel Lee Chee Hun successfully beat 9000 over Malaysians, this boy who came from North part of Kedah, Changlun was crowned as the Malaysian Idol’s season 2 champion!
After 4 long months of challenging competition, Daniel successfully won 68% (about 1.2 million votes) and beat Nita by a vast difference of votes, and became the first Chinese to be crowned Malaysian Idol!
At the live stage of the grand finale and the results show which was held 2 days in a row showed two strong supporting teams of the idols, on the left side of the stage were Daniel’s supporters, while on the other side is Nita’s biggest fans. At the moment when everybody was quietly waiting for the results to be revealed, it was also the time when the tv was showing advertisements. The live audience continuously shouting for their idol’s name, both team ‘shouting’ over each other, made the environment in the arena of stars felt heaty.
On the first day’s finale show, Daniel and Nita each sang 3 songs: a song of their own choice, judges’ choice and a theme song. Both lastly duet ‘Kau Di Hatiku’ and ‘You’ll Be In My Heart’ and ended the night wonderfully.
Although during the first day, Nita’s steady performance and strong vocal won loads of applause, even the judge Abang Roslan said: “give me one reason why Nita can’t win”, but the result is still in the Malaysians’ hands, after almost 24 hours of sms and voting through the landline, Daniel defeated Nita by 68% of votes, doubling the votes of Nita’s, and this is the newly crowned Malaysian Idol!
The funny thing is, when the both of them were dueting before the results, Daniel accidentally stepped on Nita’s dress twice, made Nita couldn’t step forward, it was quite embarrassing. But this ‘step’ was like a ‘sign’ that Daniel will ‘step’ on Nita and be at the top! (These people really can simply write anything and everything! Crap!)
JUDGES: CAN’T COMPARE
At the press conference, a fan called and said that Nita’s vocal is much more powerful compared to Daniel. How is Daniel going to compete in ‘World Idol’? You people has chosen me, so I will do my very best. Before this I’m just a normal Daniel, I have diction problem in singing English songs. In this 3 months I have improved a lot and matured too, I’m still little Daniel. But I’ll work harder now, boost up my confidence, and I will learn from my experiences.
On the other hand, speaking about people who take Daniel and 1st Malaysian Idol, Jaclyn Victor to make a comparison, judges Roslan Aziz and Fauziah Latiff thinks that these comparisons shouldn’t exist. “Both of them are different type of singers. Daniel is modern pop singer while Jaclyn has a different type of vocal. Because the both of them has their own advantages and specialties, so they can’t be compared. Daniel knows how to compose and he also knows how to play different type of instruments. 120 million votes can’t be wrong!” When the judges were questioned whether they are satisfied with this season’s result, Paul Moss said that, there’s no certain right or wrong in this competition.
HOPE TO WORK WITH JAY CHOU
At the press conference, newly crowned MI Daniel admitted that he is very happy of making the Chinese people proud, and he felt proud of himself as well, he also thinks that his height is not a problem and he is very confident that he can be a professional composer/singer! When a reporter asked him whether he brought honour to his ancestors (it was asked in a Chinese proverb), but Daniel did not understand the meaning of it, and he said that his Mandarin is ‘limited company’.
Daniel said that he was very shocked, because speaking of singing, he don’t think of himself as the best. But just after he said that, he then thinks that he can win it’s because of his singing style/charisma and his music background. Daniel said that no matter who was crowned, he and Nita were the winners that night.
Studying in Penang’s USM doing music, because to join Malaysian Idol he temporarily take leave from the Uni for one semester, after this he will continue pursuing his studies and if by any chance he will release his album, he hoped that he can plan his schedule so that he can study and work at the same time. “I wish to release a Chinese album, if I have the chance, I also would like to sing Malay and English songs.”
Following the victory, Daniel will have a contract signed under Sony BMG music label. Daniel, who was once a Jay Chou’s guest performer in his concert is a part of Sony BMG, he and Jay can be said as brothers in the same field, how does he feel about all these? “Of course I would love a chance to work with him, but everything is coming too fast, I can’t think of anything yet, maybe ask me this question later, I might have different reaction?”
3 years ago Daniel started to perform in unplugged cafes, the experience of course isn’t as rich as Nita who has 8 years experience singing in pubs. “It’s quite difficult for me to believe that I’m this season’s MI, before this my parents doesn’t encourage me playing music, but after I got into Top 11, they gave me a lot of support.”
