Aunty Melody Wendy....I will make the Lotus Root soup tonight...hopefully it will be successful and hopefully Kevin likes it... hehehe ;D ;D ;D
Normally I only boil Corn with Chicken Soup for soothing....
Very soothing wan....
1. Boil water with 1 onion (cut them into slices).... 2. When it is boiled, throw 2 - 3 corns (break the corn into halves) into the soup...the more corns u put, the sweeter the soup will be... 3. After 20 minutes later, add in pork minced balls or chicken slices (depending on your preference) into the soup. For more variety, you may add in taufupok (fried beancurd). 4. Add little bit of salt 5. Boil for another 30 minutes.....
Enjoy your soup...slurp slurp slurp...... ;D ;D

Wow...all the lovely recipies posted up with love from all Pinkies! For the benefit of all!!
I really envy those like Aunty Melody and Aunty Jintanmanis that take the time and patience to boil soup and cook for their family. My mum is a very hard working woman, therefore she doesn't spend time in the kitchen. So "soup" isn't a frequent dish at home as no one has time for it.
I will normally boil soup when i'm staying with my uni mates, but all simple wan la...oso duno if healthy or has medicinal value....
i just like to drink soup, last time when grandma still arnd, she will boil for me...now...boil myself...when i got time...
will keep browsing this thread for soup recipes!! hope to try one soon!!

thanks a lot para aunties ... im having terrible sore throat now and the recipes mentioned above are perfect for me right now ... i like herbal soup, my dad always make good soup for me ... but i dunno what recipe does he use to produce such a nice soup ... hehe ... Ee mun...tell your dad to share his soup recipes ;D ;D ....please ;D..one way of introducing him to the uncles and aunties..... ;D i saw my dad's recipe today, cause my elder bro and sis-in-law came home for dinner ... initially, he went to the chinese herb shop to buy mixed herbs (i think different herbs soup will have different combination of herbs, depending on what kind of soup u wanna make), and for my case,i dunno exactly what each of these herbs is called in english, i guess probably all aunties here will know ... i saw some reddish bean-sized herb (in cantonese, it is called "kei ji"), another bigger red herbs (in canto it is called "hong chou"), another white, flat and hard herb dunno called what, chinese mushrooms, and some black hairy stuff dunno called what also ... overall, it looked smthg like this : He started off by boiling a big pot of water, then dumped in the herbs into the water and boil boil boil in a strong fire for roughly 15 mins, meanwhile he washed and removed the chicken skin and fats, leaving only the bone with some meat attaching to the bone ... and after finished preparing the chicken, he threw them into the pot and slowly boil in a mild fire ... The in-process product looks a bit like this : while boiling the soup, he used another small pot to boil few eggs ... and roughly 30 mins before the soup is done, he removed the egg shell, and dumped them into the pot of soup ... it is simple and ready to serve ... i dunno much about how to make a good herb soup ... but i know that some herb soups like Dong Guai and Pat Chan are good for enhancing blood circulation esp for women who r having menstrual while some others are good for improving stamina for the men ... really sorry ... im poor in describing ... will checkout bout herbs more detail ... ;D ;D
